about

I am third-year doctoral student studying education policy at Michigan State University (MSU) and a graduate research assistant at the Education Policy Innovation Collaborative (EPIC) at MSU. My research is centered on instructional policies, and my work at EPIC focuses on evaluating the effectiveness and implementation of Michigan’s third-grade reading law: Read by Grade Three. Prior to beginning my studies at MSU, I worked as a research associate in education policy studies at a public policy think tank in Washington, D.C. and as a high school social studies teacher in Columbia, Missouri. I earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Missouri and a master’s in cognitive science in education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri, but have lived in four places since then: Columbia, MO; New York City; Washington, D.C.; and now Lansing, MI. I love to travel, read, and ride my Peloton in my free time and I have an adorable (and very hyper) yellow lab named Lulu.
